FTDI is pleased to announce the latest release of its Vinculum-II (VNC2) development Toolchain, version 1.4.4. It offers improved reliability and performance over previous releases, and includes the following new features:
- Added support for Long File Names in the FAT File System. An optional library can be obtained from FTDI to permit both reading and writing of Long File Names.
- Improved debugging and watch variables displays in the IDE.
- Bug fixes and improvements for drivers and libraries including FAT File System, USB Host and USB Slave. For full details, please refer to the release notes.

If you require the optional library to use FAT Long Filenames (LFN), please refer to our Application Note AN_189 “Vinculum-II Using The LFAT Driver, complete and return the following agreement, Microsoft LFN Agreement and contact our support engineers at support1@ftdichip.com to request the library. The LFN library allows use of filenames which are longer and more flexible than the standard 8.3 format filenames supported in our FAT driver.
