To this end, FTDI offers a wide product offering for USB solutions including Full Speed and Hi-Speed chips for USB peripherals, hosts, and bridges, as well as our Vinculum family of 16 bit micro-controllers with multi-port USB capabilities.

In 2013, FTDI Chip extended the USB Made Easy concept to the graphic interface market with Display Made Easy. With the introduction of EVE, Embedded Video Engine, a new display technology centered around object oriented graphics is being offered. The FT800 device is the first EVE integrated circuit of this family. Offered in a 48 pin QFN package (7x7mm), this feature rich device supports display, audio, and touch functions providing a complete solution for Human Machine Interfaces and enabling hi-quality images for QVGA and WQVGA displays.

 FT800 Series ICs – EVE Embedded Video Engine

The new FT800 series of devices offers a cost optimised solution for implementing graphic controllers into a design. By rendering displays on a line by line basis and using object oriented programming the FT800 simplifies designs and reduces Bill of Material costs. Also supported in the series are audio output and touch control capabilities all controlled over low bandwidth SPI or I2C interfaces.

 FT-X Series ICs – Full Speed USB Peripheral Bridges

The new FT-X series of Full Speed USB device bridges offer more interface options with lower power, lower pin count and higher levels of integration.

The devices all include an integrated crystal and an internal Multi-Time-Programmable (MTP) Memory for configuring and storing the device descriptors. Taken together these features provide extra system functionality, thus reducing the system bill of material (BOM) and overall printed circuit board (PCB) real estate.In addition, a new Battery Charger detection feature is now included for use, enabling higher charging currents and shorter charging times.

 FT12 Series ICs – Full Speed USB Peripheral Controller
The FT12 series consists of 3 full-speed USB peripheral controller ICs.
The FT120 is the basic device designed as a drop-in alternative for PDIUSBD12 designs. The FT122 extends the FT120 design by adding battery charger detection and internal clocking, while the FT121 replaces the parallel interface with an SPI interface allowing for less pin count required from the external processor. All three devices are fully customisable for different USB classes and applications.

 FT300 Series ICs – USB Host Solutions

The FT311D and FT312D provide a bridge between peripheral hardware and an Android platform with a USB device port. The FT311D will enumerate the Android platform and provide an interface to either, GPIO, UART, PWM, I2C Master, SPI Slave or SPI Master, while the FT312D has optimised buffering for fast UART transfer. Note, proper compatibility requires Android Open Accessory Mode, available in Android platforms 3.1 onwards.

The FT313H is a general purpose USB2.0 Hi-Speed, EHCI Host controller designed for integration with microcontrollers via numerous parallel bus options and offering battery charger emulation on the downstream port to enable optimized charging with higher currents.
