FTDI Chip unveils Engineering Community to encourage worldwide customer engagement

We are continuously striving to facilitate our engineers with the tools to make design easy, and with this in mind we are pleased to announce the launch of our multifaceted online community, www.ftdicommunity.com.

Created with the intention of strengthening our existing array of technical support capabilities, this valuable new engineering resource aims to encourage ongoing interaction between members, which will in turn provide a valuable knowledge base via which the sharing of ideas and project information can be facilitated. Through such activities, it will become possible to expedite system developments using our broad portfolio of industry-leading USB related products.

Bridgetek is pleased to announce the launch of two development modules – the CleO35-WIFI and MM930LITE, designed to work with the CleO35 and FT93x series respectively. The CleO35-WIFI is an accessory for the CleO series – the smart TFT display for Arduino, and is designed with an ESP-12S Wi-Fi module from Ai-thinker using core processor ESP8266 which is among the most integrated Wi-Fi chips in the industry.

The MM930Lite is a development module for Bridgetek’s 32-bit high performance FT93x Microcontroller family, which is used to develop and demonstrate the functionality of the FT930 Embedded Microcontroller, and is ideal for applications including home security systems, home automation systems, USB capability products, embedded multimedia application and other industrial control systems.

FT602 UVC Class SuperSpeed USB3.1 IC and development modules now available!

We are pleased to announce the full scale production of our FT602 USB 3.1 (Gen 1) video class FIFO IC and two accompanying hardware modules. The FT602 supports the streaming of video content from high definition camera equipment, meaning that imaging systems which would have previously only been capable of delivering relatively low resolution material can gain substantially elevated video quality but still run at 60fps frame rates. The UMFT602A and UMFT602X units enable bridging of a FIFO bus to a USB3.0/1 host and are equipped with either HSMC or FMC (LPC) connectors. They provide engineers with a simple and straight forward platform on which to evaluate the functionality of the 32-bit FT602 devices, which can deliver up to 1920 x 1080 resolution at frame rates of 60fps, with up to 4 video input channels being made available.

For more information on the FT602 IC please click here, and click here for the UMFT602x modules. Finally, please click here for the press release.

New Products Announced

We have recently announced a number of products from both our FTDI Chip and Bridgetek brands. Within  USB, the new FT602 USB3.0 IC and corresponding development modules (UMFT602x) add a UVC class version to the SuperSpeed family. Additionally we extended our X-Chip series with two new development modules, the LC231X and the LC234X based upon  the FT231X and FT234X ICs, ideal for hobbyists and makers looking to interface with larger systems,  and a range of TTL cables, also designed with the FT234X.

From Bridgetek, the FT93x and MM930 mini module extends the MCU offering, and the ME812AU-WH50R and ME813AU-WH50C have been added to the ME18x series of modules featuring the enhanced Embedded Video Engine (EVE) graphics controller ICs, FT81x.

EVE Screen Designer 3 (ESD3.x) now available

The EVE Screen Designer (ESD) 3.x integrated development environment (IDE) further facilitates EVE-based human machine interface (HMI) construction. It presents a simple, highly intuitive package through which a wide range of exciting visual effects can be created and various items of graphical content edited, in order that enhanced user experiences are derived. Building on the previous generation, it has advanced code generation capabilities (with exported C-based source code being applicable to any hardware associated with Bridgetek’s FT90x MCUs), plus a greater scope of widgets that can be incorporated. As users rely predominantly on visual programming (though there is provision to use text for editing purposes), they do not need to have an in-depth understanding of EVE display lists.

Please click here for a press release on the ESD3.x, or click here for full information and to download the ESD 3.0 setup and installation file.
