FT-X series devices offer lower power, lower pin count, and a leadership feature set, that makes bridging from a USB ports to UART, I2C, enhanced SPI (FT1248) or FIFO interfaces easy to design and implement. Key features include:
- Battery charger detection to enable higher current, faster charging
- Extensive clocking capabilities; internal clock generation and external clock out
- Internal 3.3V regulator
- Integrated crystal and Multi-Time –Programmable (MTP) memory to save board space and maximize flexibility
As per previous FTDI chip series, the devices are supported by FTDI’s royalty free drivers for all major OS.

New form factor, lower cost solutions available now for all your USB to UART needs.
A new FT234XD USB to UART cable family is now available offering the convenience of a USB bridge to UART signalling in a cable with a variety of connector terminations including wire ended and 0.1” pitch sockets, popular with hobbyists, makers and general board developers.

FT-X Breakout Modules |
Breakout modules provide the simplest development hardware for the FT-X series of devices. To reduce cost the USB interconnect is simply tracking on the PCB which plugs directly into the USB host socket. The interface connector is a standard 0.1” pitch socket.
The module is ready to use when plugged in to enable instant development work to begin.
