 EVE 3 Development Modules

EVE 3 series modules provide developers with easy to access HMI solutions based on the BT81x series of high resolution display devices with third generation Embedded Video Engine (EVE) technology.

This evolution of technology brings enhancements to memory management and accessibility within the EVE system. A dedicated flash host port allows the BT81x to have control of its own dedicated off-chip memory for storing larger asset files (or more of them) improving system performance by freeing up the SPI system bus.

Other enhancements are provided through ASTC compression support bitmaps, digital audio and Unicode string support.

 VM816C

The VM816C50A is a development module designed for the BT816 IC, which may be used to develop and demonstrate the functionality of this resistive touch graphics controller. The module behaves as an SPI slave, and requires an external SPI Master for proper microcontroller interfacing and system integration.

The VM816CU50A is also a development module designed for the BT816 IC, which may be used to develop and demonstrate the functionality of this resistive touch controller. The module behaves as a USB device, and requires an external USB host to control the device. This unit is ideally suited for pairing with the PC tools such as ESE, ESD or the Sample apps, enabling developers to focus on optimising display lists in sophisticated GUI’s

The VM816C development systems are credit-card sized and support 5” TFT displays.

Included on the module is a connector for an audio speaker and switches to enable backlight control upto 100mA.

Power can be supplied via the SPI pin header, or a micro-USB connector, or a 2-pin DC input connector.

The VM816C50A-D comes equipped with a 5” resistive touch display with 800 x 480 pixel resolution, while the VM816C50A-N is provided without the display to enable users to fit a compatible display of their choosing.
